自己紹介をさせていただきますね。Self-Introduction

My name is Helena Sifuentes, I am 21 years old and an university student from Brazil.

I was born and raised in Brazil’s capital, Brasília, a place full of international activity and people because of the Embassies. Having also studied at an international school all my life, I have grown up beside people from all different cultures and backgrounds. This upbringing made me strive for a future and life abroad.

It was during High School that I found a passion for studying languages, in special Japanese. Since then, it has been a dream to come to Japan. After completing two years of college in the United States, and having to go back home because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, I knew it was time to wonder what my next step would be – and if that step should be to go to Japan. I wanted to experience Japan from a professional point of view, so I had to find an internship.

In my search for an internship, I came across Meiji Internships, which is a company that serves as intermediary between the prospective intern and companies in Japan. Through them, I was put in contact with MizuTRANS Corporation, a company that stood out to me for being full of interesting projects, as well as having work related to proofreading English translations. The company is also situated in Fukuoka, a place in Japan’s southern island of Kyushu. I wanted to go to Fukuoka because, though it is a large city, it still has a tranquil way of living, besides being friendly to foreigners and having an amazing food culture. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you!

Meu nome é Helena Sifuentes, tenho 21 anos e sou uma estudante universitária do Brasil.

Nasci e cresci na capital, Brasília, um lugar cheio de atividades e pessoas internacionais devido à presença das Embaixadas. Tendo também estudado em uma escola internacional minha vida toda, eu cresci perto de pessoas de todas as culturas e experiências possíveis. Essa educação me fez ambicionar um futuro e vida no exterior.

Foi durante o Ensino Médio que descobri minha paixão por aprender línguas, em especial a japonesa. Desde então, conhecer o Japão tornou-se um sonho. Depois de completar 2 anos estudando nos Estados Unidos, e tendo que voltar ao Brasil devido ao COVID-19 e suas restrições de viagem, eu sabia que era tempo de pensar no meu próximo passo – e se esse deveria ser ir ao Japão. Eu queria experienciar o Japão de um ponto de vista profissional, então eu teria que encontrar um estágio.

Na minha busca por um estágio, encontrei a Meiji Internships, uma empresa que faz a intermediação entre o candidato a estagiário e as empresas no Japão. Através deles, entrei em contato com a MizuTRANS Corporation, uma empresa que se destacou por ser repleta de projetos interessantes, além de trabalhos relacionados à revisão de traduções em inglês. A empresa também está localizada em Fukuoka, uma cidade na ilha de Kyushu, no sul do Japão. Eu queria ir para Fukuoka porque, apesar de ser uma cidade grande, ela ainda tem um modo de vida mais tranquilo, além de ser amigável com estrangeiros e ter uma cultura gastronômica incrível. Estou ansiosa pra conhecer e trabalhar com vocês!

ブラジルの首都ブラジリアは、大使館が多く、国際色豊かな街です。また、ずっとインターナショナルスクールで勉強してきたので、さまざまな文化や背景を持つ人たちと一緒に育ってきました。このような環境から、私は将来、海外で生活することを目指してきました。

高校時代、私は言語、特に日本語を勉強することに情熱を持ちました。それ以来、日本に来るのが夢でした。アメリカで2年間の大学生活を終え、COVID-19の渡航制限により帰国することになった私は、次のステップは何か、そしてそのステップは日本へ行くことなのかを考える時期に来ていると思いました。プロフェッショナルな視点で日本を体験したかったので、インターンシップを探すことにしました。

インターン先を探す中で、明治インターンシップというインターン希望者と日本企業の仲介をする会社に出会いました。その中で、面白いプロジェクトがたくさんあり、英語の翻訳を校正する仕事もあるということで、株式会社みずトランスコーポレーションにコンタクトを取りました。この会社は福岡にあります。福岡は大都市でありながら、のどかな雰囲気があり、外国人にも優しく、食文化も素晴らしいので、ぜひ行きたいと思いました。どうぞよろしくお願いします。
